As usual, we will start the traditional food vendor service this week on 9/10/11. Every vendor will contribute $20.00 per table to UCS from their sales. Your participation (buying foods) is a key element for success of a win-win situation for both the vendors and the school. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
*** Moon Festival activities ***
中秋節活動--賣折扣月餅及教師節禮品--還是月餅！
The traditional Chinese Moon Festival is on next Tuesday, 9/12. UCS has cooperated with Well Luck company to sell the moon cakes at a 20% discount rate. Altogether we have ordered 70 boxes from 16 families for this event. The moon cakes will be delivered to you (families that have ordered) on 9/10 at the cafeteria area. Please bring your money (cash or check) to pick up the moon cakes. By the way, UCS also ordered 20 boxes as the “Teacher’s Day gift” for our teachers to show our appreciation (and welcome) to the teachers.

Please park your car at the small parking lot (facing school entrance, it is on the left-hand side of school) on 9/10, due to there is a school event on that day which will have lots of cars occupied the large parking lot. Thanks.

UCS new school year registration and add-drop class will be held on 9/10 and 9/17. 九月十日及十七日新生註冊及加退選。 This is also the dates for students ‘add-drop’ (class) event. If your kids haven’t registered yet, or if you know anyone (your friends, colleagues, relatives) who is interested in learning Chinese, please have them registered on these two days. Add-drop classes are limited twice (one drop + one add) per person per year. Extra add-drop events will cost you $10.00 for each add or drop. New blank registration form is attached for your reference. Add-drop forms can be obtained at the registration desk on those two dates.

Hard copies are prepared for those who do not have internet service at home, please let your classmates or friends know (telling them this news). Since more than 90% all have the internet service at home, only 10 copies will be prepared (5 Chinese version and 5 English version), firs come first serve. Classroom assignment is also included in the attachment.
We have found a Yo-yo teacher who is willing to teach Chinese Yo-yo for this coming semester. 扯鈴課找到老師了，有興趣者請註冊，須五位學生才開班。SAT數學及棋藝班均差一位才滿五人。It is time to register this cultural class if you really want to. This class is pending on 5 students of enrollment. Otherwise, if only 4 or less students registered, it will still be cancelled. In the meantime, since we can’t get a Chinese music teacher (for teaching erhu) this semester, the traditional Chinese music class will be cancelled. We need one more student to register the SAT Math class, this class on 9/10 will have 4 students enrolled (1 new + 3 old). Just one more student registers this class then we can open this useful class to the students.

There will be a (fee) concert hosts by ‘2011 Double Tenth Celebration Goodwill Mission’ at Kean University on 9/24/11 (Saturday) evening at 6:30 P.M. (百年雙十國慶文化 訪問團公演) UCS and CAME (Chinese American Music Ensemble) together get 10 tickets on hand for sale ($20.00 per person). It is sold out now. The goodwill mission is led by the famous television star Mei-Feng Chen (陳美鳳) from Taiwan. Please go to http://www.nnjca.org to see more information about this event and buy tickets from there.
On Sunday 9/25/11 night in Nhttp://www.blogger.com/posts.g?blogID=8533200775181443329YU, New York, there will be another concert celebration for the 100th national birthday of R.O.C. Programs include a ‘100 people chorus’ (百人大合唱), instrument solo (professional level), Chinese opera, folk dance and others. Please go to NYU’s official website to see more information. For students from NYU, you can also get a 15% discount if purchase the tickets from the NYU box office. You need to show your NYU ID card when purchasing, though.

We need a volunteer (parents) to be the IT person for UCS this semester, due to our previous IT person, Yung-Chen Chen has no desire to do one more term. Many parents in UCS community have very sound background in computer science, or even work in related IT fields. If you are willing to help please let me (principal) know. We have many people that have taken this position can assist you. Thanks.
