1. The annual UCS Speech Contest is coming up soon. The first round will be held on 10/27 in the classroom. The final will take place on 11/17 in the auditorium. The winners of the final will then compete with students from other Chinese schools at the CACA Speech Contest on 12/15. Please see attachment for the requirements and topics of the contest.

一年一度的聯合中文學校演講比賽, 第一回合的初賽, 將於十月二十七日, 於各班級舉行. 決賽將於十一月十七日, 於大禮堂舉行. 決賽各級優勝學生, 將代表本校參加於十二月十五日的 中美文化協會所舉辦的五校演講比賽. 請參閱附錄所示的, 各級比賽的要求及題目.

2. Union Chinese School participates in the 'box top for education' fundraiser. Please collect those box tops in many of the products that you have purchased at home and bring them to our school. They should be given to Karin Wang, our fund-raising coordinator and one of our former principals. We need to submit them before November. So we would appreciate if you can bring them soon. Thank you for your support!

本校有加入Box top的教育基金募款活動。請家長們收集日常生活用品中的Box top標籤，並交給前任校長劉國玲女士(十一月之前) ，謝謝您的支持與合作。

3. This Saturday 10/20, there will be a snack sale in the cafeteria to raise fund for the school. Children can purchase a pack of snack and a box of juice for $1.25.

本週六(10/20)在學校大餐廳，將舉辦點心義賣，為學校籌款。每包點心(含果汁)$1.25元，歡迎購買。

4. UCS is a school run by parents. Therefore, we need parents’ support in providing volunteer service in various school administrative tasks. Each family of UCS has been assigned with three tasks, unless a donation of $100 has been made at the time of registration to waive the volunteer service. Each task has a group of committee members who will work together under the direction of a committee leader. Please see the attached list for more information.

聯合是一所由家長義工們，一起經營運作的學校。因此我們需要家長們的支持，在不同的行政工作上來當義工。每位聯合的家長(除了那些在註冊時繳交$100.00元以免除勞務者之外)，都被賦予三項行政工作。每項工作都有一小組委員會，在小組長的領導之下一起工作。詳情請參閱附錄文件。

5. Following our discussion at last week’s parent meeting, we will be organizing a collection of unused toys for coupon day this Saturday 10/20. Many of us have toys from birthday parties and holidays that have not been opened. We can offer these toys during coupon day. Please note that these toys must be NEW and unwrapped. NO stuffed animals unless they are brand new.

根據上週家長大會討論的結果，我們將在本週六(10/20) ，組織動員收集各家庭未曾使用過的玩具。相信許多家庭都有類似的經驗，在小孩生日宴會上，收到一些玩具而從未打開過。您捐出之後，我們可以用在獎勵卷兌換日，當做小朋友的兌換品。請注意這些玩具必須是新的，且未曾包裝的。我們也不收舊的，用過的填充物玩具，除非它是新的。謝謝您的合作。

6. There will be a talk on family education and university preparation on 11/3 at UCS by the authors of “The Harvard Sisters – quality family education”. The talk will be conducted in Chinese. Please see attached document for details.

聯合中文學校將于11月3日（星期六）舉辦系列家庭教育講座，特别邀請家庭教育專著《哈佛兩姐妹—素質教育與智力開發家庭教育全記錄》的作者汪小武博士和胡琳夫婦，分享家庭敎育和大學升學的經驗。 詳情請參閱附錄文件。

7. ANJCS will host a Chinese Culture Multimedia Presentation Contest to promote the research and understanding of the Chinese characters and culture. All New Jersey high school students of different racial backgrounds are welcome to enter. The deadline is 12/31/2012. Please refer to the attached rules and registration form.

新澤西中文學校協會(ANJCS) ，將舉行多媒體海報比賽，以促進對中文的研究和對中華文化的了解。所有新澤西州的高中在校學生，無論種族及背景，皆歡迎組隊參加。詳細比賽規則及報名表，請參閱附錄文件。報名截止日期為十二月三十一日。
