1. The annual General Membership meeting will take place this Saturday, April 6. At this meeting, the school’s financial report will be presented. New board members will also be elected. Any parents who are interested to join the Board please contact Vice-Principal, Ichi Chen by email at icmashsu@hotmail.com or by phone at 908-272-3735. This is an important school meeting and please try to attend. Parents attending the meeting will receive two coupons for each child attending UCS.

2. The new UCS T-shirt will be available for ordering on April 6 and 13. All participants of the ANJCS/ CACA Fun Day and Sport Competition will receive free T-shirts. The event will be held on 5/19/2013 from 12.00-6.00 pm, with 6/2/2013 as the rain date at East Brunswick High School. This is a competitive and fun event participated by many Chinese Schools of the New Jersey state. We hope that many UCS members can support the school by participating in this event and wearing our new T-shirts. It will show our UCS spirit and unity to the other Chinese Schools! Parents who cannot attend this event can order the T-shirt at a low price of $5 each (below cost). Please contact Lorraine Schug at the cafeteria to place your order.

本校新的T-恤,將於四月六日及十三日開始預定.所有要參加今年ANJCS/CACA聯合舉辦的運動會及園遊會的師生,及義工家長們,都可以免費獲得一件.此運動會及園遊會,將於五月十九日(週日)十二時至六時,在東布朗士維克高中舉行.這是一個由新澤西州許多中文學校(大約十所左右),來參加的既競爭(運動會),又好玩(園遊會) 的活動.希望本校的師生及義工家長們,都可來參加此一活動.並穿上本校的新的T-恤,以表示對本校的支持.穿上它代表著向他校展示本校的精神及團結.學生及家長不能來參加的,亦可預購T-恤,每件只收成本費五美元.預購T-恤請洽Lorraine Schug.

3. The most important fund-raising activity for our school is the yearbook sponsorship. The yearbook is published every year, with photos of all the language and culture classes as well as those of the various activities in UCS. We seek for sponsors who are interested to put advertisements in the yearbook. In order to make it a success, we need the help of every member of UCS in seeking for sponsors. They can be your employers, the places where your children go for afterschool activities, or even your doctors, dentists, lawyers, etc. Please find attached the sponsorship form. Bring it to any potential sponsors to support UCS! Thanks.

學校最重要的籌款活動,是年刊的廣告支持.年刊每年發行一次,內含語文課和文化課以及其他活動的照片.為此我們尋找有興趣支持年刊登廣告的廠商.為達此目的,我們需要大家的協助,尋找贊助商.他們可以是你的雇主,你的小孩課外活動的老師,或甚至是你的家庭醫生,牙醫師,或是律師等等.請於附錄文件中,尋找廣告贊助單,並帶去給可能的贊助商,來支持學校! 謝謝!

4. This year’s UCS Yearbook will include dedication pages. Parents who are interested to put a 3” x 4” dedication to acknowledge students’ hard work and achievement, please submit the text and/or artwork to Inhou Chu at inhou@yahoo.com and a payment of $10.

今年的年刊,將開放家長留言頁,有興趣的家長們,可以提供1/4頁(3” x 4”) 的留言,用來勉勵子女(學生) 們的辛勤工作及成就,每則十美元.請將留言及照片(連同收費),交給朱英豪.他的電郵地址如上所示.

5. Class photos will be taken for all language and culture classes on April 13, with a make-up date on April 20. The photos are to be included in the UCS Yearbook.

四月十三日,學校將為所有語文課及文化課的班級,照團體照,用於年刊之中. 十三日未拍照的班級(或個人),可於二十日補拍.

6. On April 23, 2013, Enlow Hall at Kean University will feature a collaborative concert pairing the Concert Artists of Kean University with Chinese musicians, masters of traditional instruments, from Capital Normal University. Please see attached flyer for more information.

肯恩大學的音樂家,將於四月二十三日,和來自於中國首都師範大學的音樂家,和傳統的國樂師父們,於Enlow Hall舉辦一場聯合音樂會.詳情請閱附件.

7. Chinese American Music Ensemble (CAME) will have an ‘Open House’ event on 5/11/13 (Saturday) 4:30 to 6:00 P.M. at Willow Grove Presbyterian Church in Scotch Plains. Children’s chorus will do a demonstration and other activities including free refreshments and doggie bags (to send to the young participants) will be held. You and your family members are welcome to come and explore this event.

中美合唱團,將於五月十一日(週六)四點半至六點,在Scotch Plains的Willow Grove長老教會,舉辦開放日活動.兒童合唱團將做示範演出,並有其他活動,以及免費茶點供應.小孩並有紀念品可以帶回家,歡迎闔第光臨.

8. The calligraphy contest organized by the Association of Chinese Calligraphy in America is now open for registration. Deadline is May 20. Please see attached information.

12. The 2013 Overseas Youth English Teaching Volunteer Service Program in Taiwan is open for registration until May 15. Please see attached document for more information.

13. One of our UCS yearbook sponsor, Guobin Travel, has kindly offered us many affordable tours around the world, starting from $49.00 per person. Please see their ads sample in the attachment for details. Johnny Wu is kindly offering to organize a summer tour to Yellowstone National Park (including Mt. Rushmore) for our parents and students, using their package. They require about 20 people to form such a group tour (about 5 to 7 families) and the price starts from $398.00 (4-day) to $488.00/$528.00 (7-day) per person (head count, age doesn’t matter). This price covers the registration fee, lodging, and the bus fee. They offer a cheap flight ticket to Denver (from $339.00 to $419.00 pending on flights) starting from late July to late August (3 different flights on 7/24, 8/17, & 8/24, but only has 20 tickets, FCFS), and a 7 meals plan at $90.00 per adult (12 years old and above) and $75.00 per children (2-10 years old). The flight ticket offer ends on 4/20/13. Also, they have a special offer for ‘buy 2 get 1 free’. So it is a pretty good deal if you want to go to these places for sight-seeing.
