1. Last day of registration and add/ drop courses is September 15!

新生註冊及加退選僅於前二週(九月八日及十五日)舉行，欲辦理者請把握機會。

2. Updates on Cultural Classes:
a. There are some parents who requested to re-open Children’s Calligraphy class. If you are interested, please let Principal Lily know as soon as possible – no later than Saturday (9/15) morning by 9.30 am. If there are enough students who want this class, we can re-open this important Chinese cultural class.

上週有些學生家長要求重開文化課的書法班如您的子女有興趣參加此一文化課請於十五日(本週六)九點半之前告知 莉莉校長只要有足夠多的學生有意願我們將重開此一重要的中華文化課

b. Drawing and Chinese Paper-Cutting classes are under-enrolled. These two classes are particularly suitable for young students from K1-3 and CSL 1-2 classes, and they will provide children with additional opportunities to practice speaking Chinese. In addition, Fishing is also under-enrolled. Please support these classes by registering your children in them.

基礎繪畫課和剪紙課，目前人數亦不足五人註冊此二文化課特別適合年幼的學童如幼小及幼大班以及CSL-1和CSL-2的學生參加他們亦可藉此課程獲得額外練習說中文的機會此外釣魚課亦不足五人請鼓勵貴子女註冊這些課程以表支持

c. All parents are encouraged to register their children for cultural classes in addition to the language classes. The cultural classes are part of our school program, where children will engage in fun extracurricular activities while socializing with other children of the school. We need parents’ support to keep a comprehensive program for our school.

請各位家長，多鼓勵貴子女參加文化課。它們除了是學校課程的一部份之外，參與課程的學生，亦可藉由好玩的課外活動，認識新朋友及增加小朋友的社交能力。何樂而不為呢?我們需要家長們的支持這些文化課才不會因人數太少而取消。

3. A Financial Seminar entitled “Tax diversify your retirement income” will be presented by Yuan-Fen Lai, Financial Services Professional, New York Life on 9/15, 9:30 - 11:00 am. Want to learn more about protecting your family and tax diversifying your retirement income? Please join for an informational session and learn how to accomplish both!

本週六(9/15)九點半至十一點，本校將舉辦財務講座，在大餐廳舉行。將由紐約人壽保險公司的財務專員李元芬女士，主講”退休金多元化策略與節稅”歡迎聆聽。

4. The presidential election is getting close. Asian voting rate has usually been lower than other ethnic groups. As a result, Overseas Chinese Association (OCA) would like to help to promote voter registration this year. They will set up a voter registration table in cafeteria at UCS this Saturday 9/15 from 9 am to 10:30 am to encourage UCS members to vote.

總統選舉快到了亞洲人的投票率在各族裔之中通常是較低的有鑒於此海外華人協會將有人在財務講座現場(大餐廳)分發選舉登記表以利本校家長們方便日後投票時間是九點到十點半有需要者請多利用

5. ANJCS will have a Confucius Memorial Ceremony event on 9/23/12 (Sunday) at Montville High School in Montville, NJ. This is a free event and everyone is welcome to come. We encourage our parents and students to go there and learn the traditional way of celebrating Chinese Teacher’s Day (on 9/28/12).

今年的祭孔典禮，將於九月二十三日， 在北新中文學校舉行。這是免費的活動每個人都歡迎參加有興趣者， 請參閱附錄海報。

6. 2012 Double Tenth Flag Raising event will be held on 10/7/12 (Sunday) from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Birchwood Manor in Whippany, NJ. This is a free event and some programs (both outdoors and indoors) will be performed with refreshments and cakes being served after the ceremony. We (UCS) are responsible to distribute the refreshments and cakes to all the guests and need 2 to 3 volunteers to help out for this task. The interested people (volunteers) can contact Johnny Wu (908-456-2870, or e-mail: johnnywu1723@yahoo.com) for more details.

7. Moon cake ordering – Well Luck company will come to school to accept orders of moon cakes. If ordered more than 10 boxes, the price will have a 10% discount, if more than 25 boxes ordered then the discount becomes 15% and if more than 50 boxes ordered then the discount is 20%. 9. 2012 Double Tenth Celebration Goodwill Mission will have its annual performance on 9/29/12 (Saturday) 6:00 P.M. at Ridge Performing Arts Center (268 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920). 10. New Jersey Parent Caucus (NJPC) is offering a FREE five-week Professional Parent Advocacy Training program for parents, grandparents, foster parents, adoptive parents, and other caregivers. Parents and caregivers attending the training are given the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge of the systems that serve their families, their rights and responsibilities within those systems, and the advocacy, professional, and collaborative skills needed to successfully negotiate those systems. Parents will become better able to advocate for themselves and their communities, resulting in increased access to appropriate care and treatment for all children.
