1. We will have our first General Member Meeting this week on 10/13/11 at 9:30 A.M. in cafeteria. All UCS members are invited. The 2012-2013 school budgets will be proposed for approval by the general members. To encourage attendance, parents attending (and signing-up) will receive 2 school coupons for each child enrolled in school.

本週六(10/13) 學校將舉行家長 大會，討論通過 本年度學校的經費預算。凡家長出席者(簽字為憑) ，學生每人可獲2張獎勵卷.

2. The annual UCS Speech Contest is coming up soon. The first round will be held on 10/27 in the classroom. The final will take place on 11/17 in the auditorium. The winners of the final will then compete with students from other Chinese schools at the CACA Speech Contest in December (date to be announced later). Please see attachment for the requirements and topics of the contest.

一年一度的聯合中文學校演講比賽, 第一回合的初賽, 將於十月二十七日, 於各班級舉行. 決賽將於十二月十七日, 於大禮堂舉行. 決賽各級優勝學生, 將代表本校參加於十二月中(日期未定)的, 中美文化協會所舉辦的五校演講比賽. 請參閱附錄所示的, 各級比賽的要求及題目.

3. Union Chinese School participates in the 'box top for education' fundraiser. Please collect those box tops in many of the products that you have purchased at home and bring them to our school. They should be given to Karin Wang, our fund-raising coordinator and one of our former principals. We need to submit them before November. So we would appreciate if you can bring them soon. Thank you for your support!

本校有加入Box top的教育基金募款活動。請家長們收集日常生活用品中的Box top標籤，並交給前任校長劉國玲女士(十一月之前) ，謝謝您的支持與合作。

4. A form requesting for your authorization to use the photos of your children at UCS school events for publication has been distributed to all students last Saturday. It is important that we can promote our school in the community. A parent has volunteered to take photos and write articles about our school, to be submitted to local newspaper. We also need to update our website and some of the photos of various school events will be needed. Therefore, the school needs your support in signing the forms and returning them to the teachers promptly. Thank you.

上週聯合中文學校，曾將照片使用同意及釋權書，發給各位家長，以取得您的授權，能讓學校可以使用貴子女在中文學校的活動中，所拍的照片(含錄影帶) ，以為公開發表及宣傳之用。這對於學校在社區之間形象的提昇，有著重要的作用。我們已有一位家長，自願為學校(及學生)拍照，和寫關於學校介紹的文章，並投稿於社區報紙之中。我們也需要更新學校網頁的內容，並需要許多不同型式的學校的活動照片，因此學校需要您大力支持，簽署同意及釋權書，並及時將其交回給各級任導師。謝謝您的合作!

5. This Saturday 10/13, Edison Chinese School has invited a special guest speaker, Dr. Shing Fu Hsueh, the Mayor of West Windsor, NJ to give a free talk on how to nurture our next generation. All are welcome! Please see attached document for more details.

6. New Jersey Parent Caucus (NJPC) is offering a FREE five-week Professional Parent Advocacy Training program for parents, grandparents, foster parents, adoptive parents, and other caregivers. For details, please see attached document in Newsletter No.3.

新州家長決策組織，提供一個免費的，五週職業家長辯護訓練，給所有的父母，祖父母，義父母，領養父母，及其他關懷照顧者，詳情請參閱學校第三期聯合通訊的附錄。

7. There will be 2 special Medicare Basics Webinars to be given in Chinese by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. It is for Medicare beneficiaries and professional staff who serve the Medicare population. Please see attached document in Newsletter No. 5 for more information.
