1. ANJCS will host the Centennial Double Tenth flag raising event on 10/9/11 (Sunday) from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Birchwood Manor (111 North Jefferson Road, Whippany, NJ). (中華民國建國百年雙十國慶升旗典禮) UCS will serve the refreshments and cakes for the guests. If you like to attend this celebration and help out (as server), please let the principal know. Both adults and children are welcome. Might give certificate for 2 hours of community service to children who are in high school (9th grade and up). Please see the attachments for details. The [Logo Design Contest] event for the Double Tenth will have the results (winners) announced on the same date at that place, too. By the way, the servers will get lunch box (for adults) and pizza (for children) after the ceremony is over (the audience will not get anything for lunch).

2. On 10/10/11 (Monday, Columbus Day) there will be a Double Tenth parade in Chinatown area in New York City. (十月十日紐約中國城國慶遊行) Have free bus send you to NYC from Kam-Man Supermarket in Edison at 2:00 P.M. and return at 7:00 P.M. Please attend freely. Need at least 2 adults to hold the banner for UCS in this parade.

3. UCS will host this year’s CACA 5-school Speech Contest on 12/10/11 at our auditorium。 Detail rules are attached in the enclosed file. UCS in-class and intra-class speech contest will follow the same rules as specified in the enclosed file. (聯合今年將舉辦中美文拹五校演講比賽) 。 We will need a lot of volunteers to help out this event at then. If you can help, please contact our Vice Principal, Lily Chen Hafteck, directly.

4. The parent-teacher conference schedule for 3rd and 9th/10th classes is as follows: 老師家長會議新時刻表如下: NEW SCHEDULE:

3rd, 9th/10th grade classes: 10/8 between 10:50 to 11:15 in the class room

5. For safety reason, starting from this week (10/8/11) the parents must accompany with your young kids (under 7the grade) to get the coffee in cafeteria. Students that are 6th grades and under are not allowed having coffee alone by yourselves.

6. We will have our first ‘All members meeting’ next week on 10/15/11 at 9:30 A.M. in cafeteria. 下週六(10/15) 學校將舉行家長 大會，討論通過 本年度學校的絰費預算。凡家長出席者(簽字為憑) ，學生每人可獲2張coupon. The 2011-2012 school budgets will be proposed for approval by the general members. To encourage attendance, every parent attends (signing-up) can get your children 2 school coupons.

7. A message received from Westfield BOE: “On October 22, there will be a tailgate on the main parking lot at Edison. They will be advised not to park in the rear parking lot.” 十月二十二日請勿在小停車場停車。

8. On 10/8/11 (Saturday) night from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. CAME (Chinese American Music Ensemble) will have a free concert performance at Jersey Gardens Mall in Elizabeth, NJ. Programs include adult/children choruses, instrumental solo (piano, violin, sheng, and yungqin), yo-yo and Chinese folk dance (by Celadon Youth group). Feel free to go there for enjoying their performances and the shopping at the Jersey Gardens Mall. 中美合唱團十月八日晚上六點半，將於澤西市花園大商圈舉行免費的音樂會，歡迎閣家觀賞。
