*** Activities, Events & Announcements *** 近期活動介詔、公告及宣佈事項

1. UCS will host this year’s CACA 5-school Speech Contest on 12/10/11 at our auditorium。UCS intramural speech contest will follow the same rules as specified in the enclosed file. There will be two rounds of intramural speech contest. The first one is on 10/29 (2 weeks later) and the final round will be on 11/19. For the first round of speech contest, all students are encouraged to attend. Please look at the enclosed file to find your group (it is determined by your age, not by your grade) and go to the corresponding classroom for attending the speech contest. The first 5 winners of each group will get a paper certificate. The final round of intramural speech contest will be attended only by those first ½ winning students (up to 9 people) in each group. In each group the first 3 winners will get a trophy and the first 2 winners will represent UCS to attend the CACA 5-school speech contest on 12/10. (聯合今年將舉辦中美文拹五校演講比賽) 。 We will need a lot of volunteers to help out this event as judges and time control persons on 10/29. If you can help, please contact our Vice Principal, Lily Chen Hafteck, directly.

2. For safety reason, starting from this week (10/8/11) the parents must accompany with your young kids (under 7th grade) to get the coffee in cafeteria. Students that are 6th grades and under are not allowed having coffee alone by yourselves.
即日起(10/8/11) 六年級(含) 及以下的學生， 將禁止自行倒咖啡，須由家長陪同方可行之，請家長們多多配合，以策安全。

3. We will have our first ‘All members meeting’ this week on 10/15/11 at 9:30 A.M. in cafeteria. 本週六(10/15) 學校將舉行家長 大會，討論通過 本年度學校的經費預算。凡家長出席者(簽字為憑) ，學生每人可獲2張coupon. The 2011-2012 school budgets will be proposed for approval by the general members. To encourage attendance, every parent attends (signing-up) can get your children 2 school coupons.

4. A message received from Westfield BOE: “On October 22, there will be a tailgate on the main parking lot at Edison. They will be advised not to park in the rear parking lot.” 十月二十二日請勿在大停車場停車。

5. UCS student, Edward McGreevy, attended the ‘Centennial Double Tenth Logo Competition’ and won the 2nd place honor in the lower-grades section. Congratulations to him.
本校楊修維同學參加百年國慶圖案設計比賽榮獲低年級組第二名，恭喜他！

6. On 10/15 afternoon from 1:30 to 4:00 P.M. the First Lady of the Republic of China Taiwan is coming to visit Edison Chinese School. 中華民國台灣總統夫人周美青女士, 將於10/15 星期六下午一點三十分至四點，到愛迪生中文學校訪問，並為該校的低、中高年級同學說故事。有興趣者請自行前往該校參觀當個《粉絲》， 也許還有機會和她本人一起照相喲，請把握機會自行前往。
