*** Activities, Events & Announcements *** 近期活動介詔、公告及宣佈事項

1. UCS will host this year’s CACA 5-school Speech Contest on 12/10/11 at our auditorium。UCS intramural speech contest will follow the same rules as specified in the enclosed file. There will be two rounds of intramural speech contest. The first one is on 10/29 (next week) and the final round will be on 11/19. For the first round of speech contest, all students are encouraged to attend. Please look at the enclosed file to find your group (it is determined by your age, not by your grade) and go to the corresponding classroom for attending the speech contest. The first 5 winners of each group will get a paper certificate. The final round of intramural speech contest will be attended only by those first ½ winning students (up to 9 people) in each group. In each group the first 3 winners will get a trophy and the first 2 winners will represent UCS to attend the CACA 5-school speech contest on 12/10. (聯合今年將舉辦中美文拹五校演講比賽) 。 We will need a lot of volunteers to help out this event as judges and time control persons on 10/29. If you can help, please contact our Vice Principal, Lily Chen Hafteck, directly.

2. The first ‘All members meeting’ was held on 10/15/11 last week. Some decisions that have been passed by the board directors and approved by all the members are summarized below. (i) Teachers stayed 3 years or more will get about 7% salary increases this year. (ii) Will use $1,600.00 budget to buy two computers and one projector. (iii) New ‘volunteer sheet’ will include two more items (‘Other’ and ‘Waiver’) to choose from. For those who selects ‘waiver’ must pay a one-time ‘waiver fee’ of $60.00 per year. (iv) All 3 deans will get pay of $200.00 per year. (v) Will have a surplus budget of $2754.14 this year. (vi) Next board meeting will switch to 12/3 due to 5-school speech contest on 12/10. 上週六 (10/15) 學校舉行家長 大會，討論 通過本年度學校的經費預算及其他支出項目。

3. A message received from Westfield BOE: “On October 22, there will be a tailgate on the main parking lot at Edison. They will be advised not to park in the rear parking lot.” 十月二十二日請勿在大停車場停車。

4. We will have our first coupon redemption day on 11/5/11. 獎勵卷兌換將於十一月五日舉行。
