1. CACA 5-school Speech Contest was finally over and we only had Grace We won the 2nd place of group C this time. However, we did a great job as the host school. Let’s give all the contestants, the winner (Grace Wu) and all the volunteers a big applause.

中美文拹五校演講比賽終於結束，本校僅有吳孟于同學獲得C組第二名。恭喜她，也請大家為所有的參賽者及義工家長們賀彩。沒有各位義工家長們的付出，這次的比賽不會辦得如此的精彩和順利，謝謝大家(要感謝的人太多，就不一一唱名了)!

2. The annual Chinese New Year event is approaching soon. We ask our parents to help out as volunteers and encourage the new parents and those who have never being a volunteer to participate this time. If you are interested to be a volunteer for this event please contact our responsible person, Ming Liu (TEL: (908) 889-4115) directly. We will start to sell the dinner tickets soon after the winter break. Thanks.

3. This week (12/17) is our second ‘coupon redemption day’, please bring your coupons for redemption.

本週六(十二月十七日) 有獎勵券兌換活動， 請勿錯過機會。

4. From now on, our school library will open each week. We find another parent who is willing to be the responsible person for this task. Thanks for her volunteering in this job.

從本週(12/17) 起中文學校圖書館將每週開放 借閱， 謝謝一位熱心的家長願意出來為大家服務。

5. On 1/7 and 1/14 we will have ‘add/drop class’ for next semester. Thanks.

6. The Yale University’s Chinese American Students Association is hosting its First Annual National Chinese-American Essay Competition. For details please read the attached files. If you are interested in attending please contact principal for registration (due date is 12/21 and this week is your last chance for participating).

耶魯大學中美學生協會將舉辦第一屆全國中美作文比賽，詳情請參閱附件。有興趣參加者請向校長報名(十二月二十一日截止，本週為報名的最後機會了)。

7. The annual CACA Chinese New Year Gala event is coming soon. It is scheduled on 2/11/12 (Saturday) night at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset. The ticket price is $75.00 per adult and $25.00 per children (under 12). Baby sitter is included onsite and an ‘international standard dance competition’ will be held during the party, too (limit to first 15 couples registered). For this event, CACA has a ‘profit sharing plan’ for all 5 schools and sub-organizations in that the ‘profit’ (if any) will be shared among all schools (and sub-organizations) that sell dinner tickets and earn some ads (from vendor) proportionally. Last year from the same event we (UCS) earned more than $500.00 (due to I drew 23 persons to attend this event and got 4 to 5 outside ads). The more people attend this event the more money (profit sharing) we will get from CACA (as a ‘bonus’). So please join this event if at all possible. Not only you will get a good ‘entertainment’ on that night but also UCS will benefit from the ticket sells (profit sharing, about 10% from all the sales of our tickets) and earn some money from this event. So why not do it this year? (This is really a win-win situation for both you and the school.) Please see enclosed attachments for details. And you can purchase tickets from the principal. Thanks.
